Will this be good on my global history thematic essay on my regents?

The topic was write about a technological advance and how it effected the world in a positive and negative way. They gave a list of options and one of the technologies i chose was to write about nuclear weapons. Now, in bold it said DO NOT MAKE THE UNITED STATES THE EMPASIS OF YOUR PAPER. So i didnt, i knew i couldnt because you could get all your points taken away for that essay. To talk about nuclear weapons you have to talk about the U.S. or at least mention them so i did. About how it was created in world war 2 and how the U.S. dropped tem on hiroshima and nagasaki, and also the cuban missile crisis with the soviet union during the cold war. the u.s. WAS NOT the emphasis of my paper it was the whole world and the U.S. just happened to be envolved with many things about nuclear weapons. When i was done my teacher took the test and looked at it funny and said i was not supposed to write about the U.S.!!!! i was worried but i think hes wrong becasue i just included the U.S. as an example. Have you seen this happen before? and do you think that new york state will be okay with this?
