What the Hell is this Son Of Star Wars US missile defense system on British soil!?

Their is rumor that the US government wants to use British soil for missile defense. Is this BS true!? In case u didn't know the UK already produces many of it's own missiles such as the SeaWolf and the Rapier Missile so what the hell dose the US government have business doing **** like that. The government better have their approval or this may result in a huge tango not just with the U.K. but with the rest of Europe and possibly Russia too. I myself would be politically pissed off if our government even try to do so with out their approval! Fill me in on this. Thanks
